Carrying load at 10 miles per day, Texas Department of Transportation recently experienced the transport of a mammoth 1.7 million pound Toshiba steam engine from the port of Houston to a power plant in Riesel, East of Waco.

The load travelled about 250 miles on state-maintained roads and across 82 bridges. Months of preparation were necessary to ensure a safe, smooth endeavor. A custom wig with 520 tires transported the generator, measuring in at 39 feet wide, 18 feet high and a s long as a football field.
