Wright R-3350 32WA 18-Cylinder Radial Aircraft Engine Starts For the First Time After 32 Years
Engines! From the most basic to the most complex ones, they have changed the course of history as well as our way of existence on this planet. We owe such much to them and, of course to those designed them!
As enthusiasts, we love all kinds of engines, even the most primitive ones, but we double love them when they're gigantic! In today's video, we're checking out an excellent example for such gigantic engines. It's a tremendous engine that looks like it's a part of a Transformers figure, but it's not. It's real and it functions. It's a Wright R-3350 32WA 18-cylinder radial aircraft engine. The Wright R-3350 is technically a twin-row, 18-cyliner radial engine that was developed from the Wright R-1820 Cyclone. It was one of the most powerful radial engines produced in the United States. The video shows us the first start of this monstrous radial engine after being stored in a container for 32 years. It's great to see such a gorgeous old engine work as functionally as the newly built ones. This proves the quality of old technology.
Check out the video with all your attention, see the engine, hear the sound, feel the vibe and enjoy it!
