Miss Detroit III is technically an extremely accurate replica of single step hydroplane race boat that was designed by Gar Wood and Chris Smith in 1917 and won the 1918 Gold Cup. It carries the fully restored original Glenn Curtiss model V-4 aircraft engine, the engine that won the 1919 Gold Cup event. The astonishingly cool replica of Miss Detroit III is built by Mike Michaud and the engine is ingeniously restored by the accomplished engine builder Bob Mishko.
